At last, the 6th vol. is up on Amazon. |
The book
In this sixth volume, Rip Kirby enters the Swinging Sixties and artist John Prentice has made the strip completely his own. He would soon receive the National Cartoonist Society award for "Best Story Strip Cartoonist" in 1966 and 1967. Fred Dickenson, who had been writing the strip with series originator Alex Raymond, keeps the continuity going for Prentice's exquisite art. The strips are reproduced from the original King Features Syndicate proofs, insuring that every daily will look even better than when they were first published in newspapers over fifty years ago. Contains more than 800 comics from June 8, 1959 to February 10, 1962.I think this period, and a few years later, had the best Rip Kirby stories of all time. Let us have a look on what is in the book. I use here the titles I have in my index, and I think they will be using other titles.

IDW continues then
Since we first learned that IDW continued publishing of these Rip Kirby books after Alex Raymond's run we have only one, vol.5. Since the advertising of these have come very early in the past, and the Raymond run came with smaller intervals, I was wondering if they planned to continue.
I am happy to learn they do, even if this book is not due until September 2013, we now know they plan to do it!
